Art Collections Of 14 Former Envoys On Display At Art Gallery
KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) - A total of 113 artworks by local and
foreign artists from the collections of 14 former Malaysian top diplomats are on
display at National Art Gallery until April 24.
Deputy Information Communication and Culture Minister Maglin D'Cruz,
representing minister Dr Rais Yatim, said the exhibition features
artworks that have high aesthetic values.
"The exhibition shows that Malaysian diplomats are keen art enthusiasts and
they are buy these art pieces for their collections," he told a news conference
after launching the exhibition Wednesday.
The artworks will be returned to them at the end of the exhibition.
Among the former envoys who have lent their collections to the exhibition
are Ahmad Kamil Jaafar, Razali Ismail, Abdul Halim Ali, Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak,
Rastam Mohd Isa and Hasmy Agam.
Among the artworks on display are those by Abdul Latiff Mohidin, Ahmad Zakii
Anuar, Awang Damit Ahmad, Hussein Enas and by artists from the Netherlands,
Slovenia, Poland, Turkey and Peru, among others.
