US$ 440,500 donated for Japan’s victims

VIENTIANE,APRIL (KPL) - The Minister of Foreign Affairs has presented a donation package of US$ 440,500 to Japanese Ambassador to Laos Junko Yokota to present as relief assistance to the victims of earthquake and tsunami in northeastern Japan.
The handover of the package took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ premises in Vientiane on April 1. Witnessing the handover were Minister of Health, Dr. Ponemek Dalaloy, who is also President of the Laos-Japan Friendship Association, and relevant officials of both sides.
The package is the nationwide donation by civil servants, armed force personnel, domestic and foreign business community and general public. The mobilization of the donation for Japan’s victims has been carried out by the Laos-Japan Friendship Association in cooperation with the Banque Pour le Commerce Extérieur Lao since March 14.
