BENGHAZI (A.A) - 04.04.2011 - A Turkish ferryboat set sail from Libya's Benghazi port to Turkey early on Monday with 420 passengers aboard.
The ferryboat brought medical assistance to Libya, and first stopped at Misurata port to take 230 injured.
Later, the ferryboat approached to Beghazi port and got 190 people, including 90 injured. There were 30 Turks, Ukrainians, Greek and Dutch citizens among people who boarded on the ferry from Benghazi.
There are 15 Turkish health staff, headed by Associate Professor Yavuz Kabukcuoglu, the chief doctor of Istanbul's Baltalimani Hospital, and 20 security officers on the ferrybot.
Loaded with three ambulances, the ferry approached the Misurata port last Tuesday. However, NATO vessels asked the ferry to anchor off Misurata due to security reasons.
The ferryboat had kept waiting 25 miles off Misurata port for five days before it got passengers from Misurata and Benghazi.
