KUALA LUMPUR, April 5 (Bernama) -- University Science Malaysia (USM) has emerged in the top 20 universities in Asia for Chemical Engineering, according to QS World University Rankings for technical subjects.

The organisation in a statement here Monday said University Malaya (UM) and University Technology Malaysia (UTM) were among the top 200 universities globally in engineering and computer science subjects.

"The first ever QS World University Rankings by subject shows Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States to be the world’s leading university in computer science and four areas of engineering, based on employer reputation, academic reputation and research quality," the statement said.

It said that 30 other subjects were to be ranked in the coming weeks on www.topuniversities.com along with a personalised ranking tool to help students make the right choice.

The QS World University Rankings is an annual league table of the top 600 universities in the world and is arguably the best-known and respected ranking of its kind.
