Chinese consul general: trade volume between Turkey & China up
KOCAELI (A.A) - 05.04.2011 - Chinese Consul General in Istanbul Zhang Qing Yang said that the trade volume between Turkey and China increased in 2010.
The trade volume between the two countries had been 1.2 billion USD in 2000, and it rose to 15 billion USD in 2010, added Zhang who visited Governor Ercan Topaca as well as Chamber of Industry Chairman Ayhan Zeytinoglu in the northwestern province of Kocaeli on Tuesday.
Noting that Turkey-China relations had roots deep in history, Zhang said that they were trying to further deepen and develop the relations.
Zhang said that the trade volume increased 50 percent in 2010 when compared to 2009, adding that Turkey's export to China in 2010 rose 40 percent when compared to 2009.
Meanwhile, Zeytinoglu said that 13 percent of manufacturing industry of Turkey was provided by Kocaeli, adding that 82 of biggest 500 companies of Turkey were taking place in Kocaeli.
Zeytinoglu said that Kocaeli's export figure in 2010 was 13 billion USD, adding that Turkey's imports from China was 17 billion USD, and export to China was two billion USD.
