Bollywood celebrities throw their might behind Hazare
New Delhi, Apr 7 (PTI) Veteran social activist Anna
Hazare's fast-unto-death against corruption has found more
supportive voices in Bollywood with celebrities like Hrithik
Roshan, Vishal Bhardwaj and Amol Gupte joining in the
campaign.
Hrithik, who is shooting for 'Agnipath' remake in
Mumbai, tweeted his support.
"I support Anna Hazare. Its TIME to make a CHANGE,"
tweeted Hrithik, who is shooting for 'Agnipath' here.
Superstar Aamir Khan has already written a letter to
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, requesting him to consider
Hazare's demands.
The 72-year-old activist is on a hunger strike
demanding the government to draft a new Lokpal (Ombudsman)
Bill, which will give more powers to Ombudsman to check
corruption.
Filmmakers Shekhar Kapur, Juhi Chawla, Madhur
Bhandarkar and Anupam Kher have already backed Hazare.
Bhandarkar Thursday met Hazare at Jantar-Mantar to
express his solidarity.
"The whole film industry is with Annaji. This is the
voice of every common man, I am here to support his struggle
against corruption," said 'Fashion' director.
Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj and actor-director Amol
Gupte too batted for Hazare.
"All the corrupt leaders should be thrown out. This is
the time of revolution," Vishal said.
Gupte, best known for his role of an corrupt
politician in 'Kaminey', echoed Vishal.
"I went without my lunch yesterday to support the old
man. Whenever there is some sense in a person one has to stop
and listen to it and follow the lead," Gupte added.
"I'm so glad that this issue has been taken up so
strongly by him...The fact that he has taken this step is
really made us wake up and say yes, we support it," Juhi said.
