RURAL FOCUS FOR TRANSFORMATIONAL DEVELOPMENT, SAYS PM
PEKAN, (Pahang, Malaysia) April 9 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Najib Razak
said Saturday the rural areas would be the focus of the transformational
development process to ensure that the people there progressed in tandem with
their urban counterparts.
He said the government did not concentrate only on specific areas but
ensured that development was comprehensive and met the people's needs.
"I want to see tranformational development take place not only in the Klang
Valley but also in the rural areas.
"In other words, let's not have people not benefiting from the
transformation, because the development is comprehensive and brings prosperity
to the country," he said at the presentation of keys to homes to 130 families at
the Pekan agropolitan project, here.
Also present were Pahang Menteri Chief Minister Adnan Yaakob and East
Coast Economic Corridor Development Council (ECERDC) chief executive officer
Jebasingam Issace John.
Najib said development in the rural areas had been going on since the launch
of the Red Book programme introduced by his father and second prime minister,
the late Abdul Razak Hussein.
"The people must feel the transformation because the benefits can elevate
their standard of living," he said.
