2,000 WOMEN VS 10,000 MEN
Deadline is tomorrow to deliver the candidate lists to Supreme Board of Election prior to the June 12 general elections. Each woman has to outcompete five male rivals to enter Parliament. Nearly 2,000 women candidates are competing against 10,000 men candidates to become deputy. 915 women applied to Justice & Development (AK) Party for being candidates, while 720 women applied to Republican Poeple's Party (CHP) and 309 to Nationalist Movement Party (MHP).

Businessman Ali Agaoglu stressed the importance of political stability and said, "our prime minister targets to include Turkey in top ten biggest economies of the world on the 100th anniversary of the Republic. However, we can reach this goal even before that date."

ALL WAYS LEAD TO METEKSAN IN CODE DISCUSSIONS
It has been understood that code allegations regarding the university exam were not true, however, this has not put an end to discussions. After the Student Selection and Replacement Center (OSYM) head's remarks regarding the booklet distributed to the press, all eyes were set on the supplier company, Meteksan. The prosecutor's office is now investigating whether or not any modifications had been made to such booklet in an effort to change the agenda.
EVEN IF ERGENEKON SUSPECTS ARE ELECTED, THEY CANNOT ENTER PARLIAMENT
A warning came from a representative of the government in relation to the moves aiming to help Ergenekon and Balyoz case suspects become elected at the upcoming elections and be saved from imprisonment. Turkish State Minister Hayati Yazici, one of the legist members of the government, said that Republican People's Party's (CHP) announcing Mustafa Balbay and Mehmet Haberal as candidates and National Movement Party's (MHP) including retired Gen. Engin Alan's name in its list would lead to a legal chaos. According to Yazici, even if these names are elected, they will not be able to enter the parliament without a court decision. Yazici also said all these efforts were in fact a part of a plan which aimed at creating a conflict between the judiciary and the parliament.

CHP-BDP ALLIANCE
It has been claimed that Republican People's Party (CHP), which is planning to carry Ergenekon suspects to the parliament, has also started a secret election alliance with Peace & Democracy Party (BDP). According to this formula, CHP will announce candidates close to BDP in some provinces and collect votes there. In return for such favor, CHP will support BDP in Turkey's southeast where it has a weak presence.
HIGH-QUALITY OIL FOUND AT SURMENE
Mehmet Uysal, Director General of the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO), said that the company was moving towards a happy ending in its oil exploration activities in the Black Sea region. Uysal said samples taken from a 4,800 meter depth at Surmeli-1 oil well had signs of high-quality oil. Indicators for economic oil and natural gas have also been obtained from Sinop-1 and Yassihoyuk-1 oil wells in the Black Sea.
