SINGAPORE, MYANMAR REAFFIRM STAND TO STRENGTHEN BILATERAL COOPERATION
SINGAPORE, April 11 (Bernama) -- Singapore and Myanmar have reaffirmed their
stand to continue strengthening their cooperation bilaterally and within Asean,
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said in a statement Sunday.
The stand was made during a meeting between Singapore's Foreign Minister
George Yeo and his Myanmar counterpart, Wunna Maung Lwin.
Lwin called on Yeo on the sidelines of the Special Informal Asean Foreign
Ministers' Meeting on the East Asian Summit in Bangkok.
During the meeting, the first since Lwin's appointment on March 30, this
year, both ministers reaffirmed the longstanding and friendly relations between
Singapore and Myanmar.
They also agreed that the countries should continue to strengthen
cooperation bilaterally and within Asean.
Yeo expressed Singapore’s willingness to continue supporting Myanmar’s
capacity building efforts, particularly in human resources development.
He also invited Lwin to make an introductory visit to Singapore at a
mutually convenient time.
