Savannakhet urges investment in tourism
Vientiane,april 8.(KPL)- Savannakhet province has constantly pursued an open door policy on tourism investment, in a bid to attract more local and foreign investment in the province, which is based on its potential resources of interested tourism sites of nature, history and culture.
The province is accelerating to the development of tourism products along with the implementation of widely open cooperation on investment along the East-West Economic Corridor.
Seeing as an important one, the authorities of Savannakhet province has recent month convened a meeting on cooperation and tourism investment among three countries of the East-West Economic Corridor of Laos, Thailand and Vietnam.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy President of Savannakhet Deputy Governor, Mr Khampheui Phanthachom.
Attending the meeting were private investment sectors from three countries.
Savannakhet Deputy Governor, Mr Khampheui has called on three countries investors to invest in tourism sector in the province by pointing out a high potential tourism resources and its location linking the East-West Economic Corridor that created a favourable environments for investment in various development sectors including service and tourism, trade and transport logistic other services. Most of them are constantly being grown, thanks to its existing strong foundation.
More than 100 tourism sites have been surveyed and listed, he said, adding that Savannakhet province welcomed over 800,000 tourists last year.
The meeting is aimed to attract an interesting on feasibility study on tourism investment so as to fulfil as priorities planned. And also creates Savannakhet province as an interested tourism site and a travel route by 2012.
The participants have also listened to Government’s policy and laws.
The meeting has also given a platform for participants to discuss on the promotion of tourism investment.
The delegations have also been accompanied to visit some interesting tourist sites in Savannakhet province such as That Inheng sputa—main tourist site in the province.
