CIVIL SERVANTS GET BONUS OF ONE-MONTH SALARY
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 29 (Bernama) -- Government employees in the country will receive a bonus of one-month salary or a minimum of RM1,000 to be paid in two instalments in September and December.
Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said the bonus payment was in
appreciation of the increased productivity and contribution by the 1.2
million public sector employees toward national development.
"The government has agreed to give a bonus of one-month salary or a minimum
of RM1,000 for the year 2008. The bonus will be paid in two instalments, in
September and December 2008," he said when tabling the 2009 Budget in the Lower
House of Parliament Friday.
The last time civil servants received the bonus was in 2006 amounting to
one-month salary or a minimum of RM1,500 paid in two instalments.
No bonus was paid to the civil servants last year following the salary
adjustment of between 7.5 and 35 per cent in July.
