Central Highlands growth efforts a success

Gia Lai (VNA) - The Central Highlands province of Gia Lai reached a GDP growth rate of 13.1 percent in 2007, a record level in the last five years.

The success was due to efforts to promote agriculture, forestry production
and social welfare programmes.

The province also reduced the poverty rate to less than 22.1 percent and
brought electricity to 100 percent of communes.

All roads to the communes' centre are now accessible to cars and 42.6
percent of the communes' health clinics have doctors. The local authorities
have also joined businesses in building more classrooms for ethnic minority
children this year.-Enditem
