AIRASIA SAYS LOAD FACTOR GOOD, NO FUEL SURCHARGE
KUALA LUMPUR, April 13 (Bernama) -- Low cost carrier, AirAsia Bhd, says
robust load factor has helped the airline compensate rising fuel cost and
therefore does not see a need to impose fuel surcharge.
Group Chief Executive Officer Tony Fernandes said the airline's load factor
remained very good at 81 per cent in the first quarter.
"We have not seen any slowdown in demand. In terms of the second quarter
(of) this year versus the second quarter of last year, forward sales still looks
quite strong," he told reporters on the sidelines of the "Invest Malaysia 2011"
conference here Wednesday.
Fernandes said the listing of its Thai and Indonesian units this year
remained on track.
"They may be listes at the same time because they are reaching out to
different sources of capital," he said.
