M'SIAN DPM SAYS CRISIS IN THAILAND AN INTERNAL MATTER
PEKAN (Malaysia), Aug 30 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister
Najib Razak said Saturday Malaysia viewed the current situation in Thailand as an internal problem.
"At the moment it's just an internal problem and there are no riots or
threats to visitors or tourists.
"We see the matter as Thailand's internal problem and we should let them
solve the problem internally," he told reporters after handing over donation to
mosques and suraus in Pekan parliamentary constituency in conjunction with the
month of Ramadan Saturday.
Najib was asked to comment on the worsening situation in the
neighbouring
country as anti-government protesters, who have been calling for Prime Minister
Samak Sundaravej's resignation, continued their seized on the Government House
in Bangkok.
They also stormed and blocked roads leading to three airports in the south,
forcing their closure Friday.
Phuket International Airport remained closed today as supporters of the
People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) continued their seige for the second day.
So far, Samak has declined calls for him to step down or to use force to
break up the protests.
