US NAVY SAILORS TO BUILD HOME FOR ELDERLY COUPLE

KOTA KINABALU (Sabah, Malaysia), April 14 (Bernama) -- About 20 sailors from
the United States Navy will be volunteering their time and manpower during their
Kota Kinabalu port call to build a home for a family in Tambunan.

The sailors will be in Kota Kinabalu, the capital of the east Malaysian
state of Sabah, as part of a scheduled port call to Malaysia by USS Stockdale
(DDG-106), and will participate in the home building project initiated by
Habitat for Humanity, a non-governmental organisation.

In a statement Thursday, the United States embassy said the volunteers would
spend a few hours on Friday and Saturday to help build the house in Kotonobon
Village, Dalungan, for an elderly couple whose home burned down two years ago.

The US Navy had also pledged assistance in covering the cost of supplies
for the project, according to the statement.
