FOREIGN MISSIONS PARTICIPATE IN CHARITY BAZAAR
KUALA LUMPUR, April 16 (Bernama) -- Thirty-eight foreign embassies are
taking part in a two-day charity drive aimed at raising funds for paediatirc
wards and welfare organisations in the city.
Siti Rubiah Abdul Samad, wife of Foreign Minister Anifah Aman, opened the
Wisma Putra International Charity Bazaar 2011 at the Institute of Diplomacy and
Foreign Relations here Saturday.
The event is organised by Perwakilan, the association of wives of Malaysian
diplomats.
"The bazaar serves as a platform for participating embassies to showcase and
promote their respective culture and cuisine," said Siti Rubiah, the patron of
Perwakilan.
Among the main attractions at the bazaar are the Global Village showcase,
World Cuisine, "It's a Small World" cultural show, an education segment themed
"Aim High" and Bazaar Malaysia.
Public admission to the bazaar, from 9am to 6pm, is free.
"We don't put a high target but we hope that the public will support our
noble intention," said Siti Rubiah.
