BEIJING (Bernama) - Malaysia and China are to sign a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) on higher education degree that would become a catalyst to increase student-exchange between both countries said Malaysian Ambassador to China, Iskandar Sarudin.
He added that ministry officers of both countries had recently discussed the proposal and expected to be finalised soon.
"Both countries had agreed to the proposed 'subject' during Prime Minister Najib Razak's visit to China in 2009 and the Chinese premier Hu Jintao's visit to Malaysia later," he told reporters here Sunday night.
He added that issues related the proposal had been ironed out and just waiting for the agreement to be signed.
Iskandar Sarudin also said that Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin was in China for an official visit to the country from Monday to April 24 while Foreign Minister Anifah Aman was also in China for an official visit from April 17 to 24.
The highlight of Anifah's visit would be the exchange of Notes of Agreement between Malaysia and China on the partial abolition of visa requirement for holders of diplomatic and official or service passports.
Iskandar said the agreement would be effective one month after the signing of the notes of agreement.
