American singer enthralled Indian audience
Bangalore, Apr 18 (PTI) Senegalese-American singer
Akon's Sunday night concert enthralled thousands of music
buffs in south Indian city Bangalore.
A Grammy-nominated artist and multi-platinum performer,
Akon sang a number of his popular numbers and regaled his
fans at the Palace Ground here as part of his India tour.
The audience clapped, cheered and swayed to the tunes
of the singer as he belted out numbers like 'Beautiful',
'Right Now', 'Dangerous', 'I'm So Paid' and 'Angel’. Their
excitement went out of countrol when he performed the'Lonely'.
Akon, whose worldwide sales top 7 million units, is
regarded as one of the most versatile and successful singers
of the 21st century. He is estimated to earn over USD 30
million a year from his songs.
The singer also celebrated his birthday April 16 with a
performance at Gurgaon.
Akon first shot to prominence in 2004 after the release
of "Locked Up" – the first single from his debut album
'Trouble.'
Later, with his second album "Convicted", Akon earned a
Grammy Award nomination for his song "Smack that".
In 2005, Akon released a single entitled "Lonely". The
song turned out to be a massive success as it figured among
the top five songs on the Billboard Hot 100.
