QF announces Visiting Scientists and Scholars Program

Doha, April 19 (QNA)- Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) announced on Tuesday the launch of its Visiting Senior Scientists and Scholars Program, the latest in a series of initiatives by QF s Research Division to transform Qatar into a vibrant hub for research excellence in niche areas.
QF seeks to invite accomplished professors, Nobel Laureates, well-respected country experts, advisors and international senior scientists from abroad to participate in research in Qatar for three to 12 months.
The program aims to promote further the exchange of knowledge between local universities, governmental and private institutions, and international experts. "This program will help research institutes or multi-national corporations that wish to develop a long term relationship with Qatar Foundation to do so in an effective and collaborative way," said Dr. Abdelali Haoudi, Vice President for Research at Qatar Foundation.
"The expertise of these scholars, who are handpicked by the Research Division from the most high-ranking institutions will speed up our journey to a knowledge economy and give the quality of knowledge a large boost."
Candidates who enter the Visiting Senior Scientists and Scholars Program will receive grants to cover their living expenses, and the research center they join will also receive an annual award to support the visitor throughout their research project and supporting conferences they may attend.
Nominees must hold a doctoral degree and have an academic standing as Professor (or an equivalent standing) from either an academic or industrial research centre.
Candidates can come from research centers located in Qatar, international institutions, or individuals with track records and exceptional credentials to work on strategic projects critical to the development of Qatar.(QNA)
