Turkey to host two major international meetings in April and May

ANKARA (A.A) - 19.04.2011 - Turkey will host two important international meetings in late April and mid May.
"The High Level Conference on the Future of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR)" will be held in the Aegean province of Izmir on April 26-27, under Turkey's chairmanship of Council of Europe's (PACE) decision-making body, the Committee of Ministers, diplomatic sources told AA.
As part of the meeting, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, the current chair of the Committee of Ministers, will hold a joint press conference with Council of Europe Secretary-General Thorbjorn Jagland and ECHR's head Jean-Paul Costa.
Furthermore, "The 121st Session of the Committee of Ministers" will be held in Istanbul on May 10-11.
Turkey, which has been holding the chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers since November 2010, will hand over such title to Ukraine on the second day of the gathering.
At the end of the meeting, participants are expected to adopt the "Istanbul Declaration" highlighting the important role of the Council in maintaining Europe's democratic stability.
