SPECIAL OIL & GAS MISSION SECURES SALES IN UAE, OMAN & KUWAIT
KUALA LUMPUR, April 21 (Bernama) -- A Malaysian delegation of oil and gas service providers on a Specialised Marketing Mission to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman and Kuwait, from March 28 to April 5, 2011, has secured sales of RM560 million (US$186.170 million).
The sales which covered engineering, procurement, construction and
commissioning (EPCC) services and process equipment for the oil and gas sector, was organised and led by Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade).
The equipment sold included fire-resistant doors, windows, roller shutters and partitions.
"An additional RM585 million in potential sales are currently under
negotiations," Matrade said in a statement Thursday. (US$1-RM3.01)
Its Director of Oil and Gas and Chemical Section Abu Bakar Koyakutty said the delegation was highly successful in not only securing new projects but also in creating greater awareness about Malaysia's world-class products and services in these markets.
"Moreover, as Malaysia has long developed its expertise in offshore oil and gas exploration and production, this will serve as an added advantage as the Middle East is now moving its current and future exploration initiatives from onshore to offshore.
"This will be a crucial competitive factor for Malaysian oil and gas players seeking a larger role in this market in view of their track record and expertise developed over the years, he added.
