PLANS TO MAKE AGRICULTURE CORPS A SPECIAL UNIT UNDER AGRICULTURE MINISTRY
SERDANG (Selangor, Malaysia), April 22 (Bernama) -- The Agriculture and Agrobased Industry Ministry's agriculture corps will be placed under a special unit under the ministry, its minister, Noh Omar said.
However, he said, it would be implemented only if the volunteers were able to assist the government in disseminating information to the people, especially farmers, on the government's role and policies in developing the agriculture sector.
"The agriculture corps can be made a unit which can be the second liner, after government officers, to develop the country's agriculture sector," he told reporters after launching Mardi's agriculture corps here Thursday.
He hoped that the setting up of the agriculture corps would attract more young people to participate in the agriculture sector and to help the government in efforts to eradicate poverty among the remaining 4,000 poor farmers, breeders and farmers.
