MUSLIMS URGED TO FOLLOW AL-QURAN AND AS-SUNNAH TO AVOID SPLIT

KUALA LUMPUR, April 23 (Bernama) - Muslims have been urged to make Al-Quran and As-Sunnah as way of life to remain united and prevent a split.

The Grand Imam of Masjidil Haram in Mecca, Sheikh Dr Abdul Rahman Ibn Abdul Aziz As-Sudais said Muslims will be split if the two are not made part of everyday life.

"You must adhere to the hadis of the Prophet, Al-Quran and As-Sunnah if not this is what happen to our people (Muslims)" he said during a Friday prayers sermon entitled "Islamic Unity and Current Challenges" at Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan in Jalan Duta here Friday.

His sermon to the congregation of over 3,000 people was translated by the Malaysian Arabic Association president Mahamud Abdul.

Sheikh Abdul Rahman who is on a five-day visit to Malaysia also reminded Muslims to deepen their devotion to Allah who will guide them towards unity.

He said Muslims must admit that they are moderate people and thus should have moderate elements in their daily life.

"Therefore, let us not become extremists nor feel too inferior that we are oppressed by others."

Sheikh Abdul Rahman called on Prime Minister Najib Razak at the Prime Minister's Office in Putrajaya Friday afternoon.
