ELECTION CANDIDATES CAN APPLY FOR PERMITS STARTING ON NOMINATION DAY
SINGAPORE, April 25 (Bernama) -- Singapore police said candidates or their
election agents may apply for permits from the police, to hold outdoor or indoor
election meetings from Nomination Day onwards.
Nomination Day for the city-state 14th General Election is fixed for April
27. They can hold the meetings between 7am and 10pm from this Thursday to May
5, reported Channel NewsAsia.
They can also apply for the use of a perambulating vehicle fitted with
loudspeakers between 2pm and 10pm on April 27 and between 7am and 10pm from
April 28 to May 5.
The local televison channel quoted the police as saying that outdoor
election meetings could only be held at designated places specified in the
permit.
Indoor election meetings may also be held within the contested constituency.
An indoor site for this purpose will be defined as an enclosed area where
people outside will not be able to hear or see the activities going on inside.
