MLFF WILL IMPLEMENTED IN STAGES FROM NEXT YEAR

KUALA LUMPUR, April 25 (Bernama) -- The Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) system
will be implemented at all toll plazas in stages beginning next year and the
whole exercise is expected to be completed by 2015, said Works Minister Shaziman
Abu Mansor.

"This system will reduce congestion at toll plazas and improve the delivery
system of tolled highways," he told reporters after opening a World Road
Association conference here Monday.

He said the implementation of the system also required amendments to the
Highways Act 1981 and that this would be done this year.

Under the system, payment for use of tolled highways is done electronically
using special tags as vehicle pass through toll plazas.

This system is widely used in countries in Europe, the United States,
Australia, Canada and Singapore.
