Malaysians Advised To Defer Visits To Syria
KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) - Malaysians have been advised to defer
visits to troubled Syria until the security situation in the Middle Eastern
country improves.
The Malaysian embassy in Damascus also advises Malaysian students who have
finished their studies and others who have completed their work or travels in
Syria, to go home voluntarily in view of the worsening conflict.
In a statement here, the Foreign Ministry said it would continue to monitor
the situation in Syria where anti-government protests had erupted.
It added that 650 Malaysians registered with the mission were safe and were
not involved in the protests.
"The embassy is also keeping in touch with Malaysians in Syria," the
statement said, adding that they were advised to be vigilant at all times.
