President of Zanzibar Ali Mohamed Shein to arrive in Turkey on Thursday

ANKARA (A.A) - 28.04.2011 - President of Zanzibar Ali Mohamed Shein and an accompanying delegation will arrive in Ankara on Thursday at an invitation by the Turkish President Abdullah Gul.
In a statement released Thursday, the Press Center of the Turkish Presidency said that Zanzibar was a semi-autonomous part of the United Republic of Tanzania.
Shein's visit shows the importance attached to Tanzania's relations with Turkey and the historic relations between Turkey and Zanzibar, a country in which 99 percent of the population are Muslims, the Press Center said.
President Shein's visit will contribute to strengthening of relations between the two countries, the Press Center said.
President Shein will proceed to Antalya on April 30 to promote cooperation in the field of tourism between Turkey and Zanzibar. On May 1, Shein will meet with businesspeople in Istanbul. He will be in Turkey until May 2, the Press Center also said.
