BRITONS IN MALAYSIA CELEBRATE ROYAL WEDDING

KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 (Bernama) -- Despite being thousands of kilometres
away from home, Britons in Malaysia did not miss the opportunity to celebrate
the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Around 550 of them gathered at a hotel here Friday to watch a live BBC
broadcast of the event dubbed "Wedding of the Century".

It was hosted by British High Commissioner Simon Featherstone and his wife,
Gail.

He described the wedding as "a very exciting event for the United Kingdom".

The envoy said that during an audience with Queen Elizabeth at Windsor
Castle recently, he had conveyed about Friday night's event in Malaysia to her.

"Her Majesty was delighted to hear about our local celebration and wished it
every success," he said.

"Her Majesty then asked us whether Manchester United (MU) are still as
popular in Malaysia as when she had last visited. We assured her that they still
are," he added.

Briton Ian Campbell said he was glad to be able to celebrate the joyous
occasion with his fellow compatriots.
