FIFTH MALAYSIA-INDIA JOINT COMISSION MEETING TO BEGIN MONDAY IN KL
KUALA LUMPUR, May 1 (Bernama) -- The 5th Malaysia-India Joint Commission Meeting, scheduled for three days beginning Monday, will focus on various issues concerning bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
These issues include matters pertaining to trade and investment, shipping and aviation, bioscience and biotechnology, information and communication technology, as well as energy and green technology, according to the Foreign Ministry.
In a statement issued here Saturday, the ministry said Foreign Minister Anifah Aman and his Indian counterpart S.M. Krishna would jointly-chair the meeting, which will begin with a Senior Officers Meeting.
The organising of the 5th Malaysia-India Joint Commission Meeting has proved the commitment made by the two countries to identify new areas that could be explored together to strengthen the ties and bilateral cooperation between Malaysia and India, besides expanding the scope of such cooperation, the statement said.
The ministry said bilateral relations between Malaysia and India are good and friendly and both countries have been working closely in various fields like trade and investment, education, defence and security, both at regional and international levels.
The 4th Malaysia-India Joint Commission Meeting was held in New Delhi, India from Feb 14-16, 2007.
