Qatari PM Underlines Iran's Effective Role in Regional Developments

TEHRAN , May 3 (FNA)- Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani stressed Doha's enthusiasm for the further expansion of bilateral ties with Tehran, and hailed Iran's effective and important role in the region and the world.
Al Thani made the remarks after holding a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi in Doha, describing his negotiations with the Iranian top diplomat as "constructive and fruitful".
He also stressed that further consolidation of relations with Tehran is highly important for promoting the stability and security of the region.
Salehi, for his part, elaborated on the results of his meetings with Qatari foreign minister, Qatari Crown Prince Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, and told reporters that "we had explicit talks on regional developments and our bilateral relations".
He expressed pleasure in his trip to Doha, and said, "We hope to witness the good results (of this visit) in future."
Salehi, heading a high-ranking Iranian delegation, arrived in Doha on an official daylong visit on Monday.
Iran and Qatar have recently augmented efforts to further expand ties and cooperation in all the different political, economic, defense and security fields.
The two Persian Gulf littoral states recently signed several protocols to increase mutual cooperation, specially in different areas of security.
