JACKWAY CONVERTOR INDUSTRIES INVESTS S$12 MLN IN CLEAN ROOM FACILITY
By Tengku Noor Shamsiah Tengku Abdullah
SINGAPORE, May 3 (Bernama) -- Jackway Convertor Industries Pte Ltd, a small-and-medium enterprise (SME) involved in the packaging industry, will be able to cater for more stringent needs of the food manufacturing industry with the opening of S$12 million clean room packaging facility.
The plant, which was officially opened today, would also allow the company to diversify into new areas such as pharmaceutical and nutritional food products.
Supported by SPRING Singapore under the Technology Innovation Programme, the clean room provides a sterile environment that protects products from the potential ravages of contamination, dust particles and other impurities.
SPRING Singapore's Chief Executive Png Cheong Boon said Jackway was an excellent example of an SME that was determined and committed to continuously upgrade its capabilities, develop new products and expand beyond the domestic market to become a globally competitive enterprise.
He said:"Its investment in innovation and R&D has resulted in the
development of a new window zipper pouch for the food industry as well as the use of more environmentally-friendly packaging materials".
SPRING, together with partner agencies, private sector organisations and trade associations and chambers, collectively supported SMEs in their upgrading and growth.
"We hope more SMEs can tap these programmes to upgrade and innovate
their businesses, seize the exciting and abundant opportunities in the global markets and grow to become strong Singapore brands and leaders in their respective industries in the global marketplace," he added.
Robin Yap, Managing Director of Jackway Convertor Industries, said the company continuously reinvented itself and upgraded its capabilities to seek new growth opportunities.
"We are a key supplier to some 70 per cent of the local food manufacturers and exported to Malaysia, Thailand Russia, Australia, Japan and Pakistan.
