MALAYSIA ATTENDING ECONOMIC FORUM IN KAZAKHSTAN
KUALA LUMPUR, May 3 (Bernama) -- A two-member delegation from Malaysia is among 3,500 participants from 72 countries who are currently attending an economic forum in Astana, Kazakhstan, beginning Tuesday.
The Malaysian delegates are the Director-General, Economic Planning Unit, Prime Minister's Department, Noriyah Ahmad and the President of the Malay Businessmen and Industrialists Association of Malaysia, Moehamad Izzat Emir.
Other participants to the Fourth Astana Economic Forum entitled "New Decade: Calls and Prospects" include Nobel prize winners, politicians, representatives of large international corporations, financial institutions and renowned scientists.
In a statement Tuesday, the Kazakhstan-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce said the AEF would focus on three key directions, namely "global economy and finance", "business and investments" and "sustainable development".
Besides dialogue meetings and discussions on a new economic and monetarypower, contracts and memorandums would also be signed during the two-day conference.
The AEF's focus was inline with Kazakhstan President Nursultan
Nazarbayev's initiative to reform the country's financial architecture in order to create a new global currency system.
The chamber said in the era of globalisation, it was impossible to
supervise one's own economy without the adaptation and cooperation of other countries.
The conference will also see the formation of the International Innovative Club which would include a pool of leading international experts on innovation and technologies.
