HEALTH MINISTRY WANTS TO HELP PREVENT DISABILITIES AMONG STUDENTS
IPOH (Perak, Malaysia), May 3 (Bernama) - Health Minister Liow Tiong Lai said his ministry is ready to provide early intervention programmes to prevent disabilities among students.
He said the ministry could send specialist doctors to schools to identity the problematic students thus making it more effective.
"The programmes can be organised jointly with the Education Ministry where specialists can conduct checks to identify those with disabilities as parents may have overlooked them," he said after launching the 'Disabilities Among Children Early Intervention Campaign' here Tuesday.
Liow was commenting the speech by Prime Minister Najib Razak that early intervention programmes will be more successful if the students can be identified at an early stage.
He said knowledge about possible disabilities among children should be disseminated especially to young parents who are lacking in aspects of childcare.
