After Egypt, Indonesia shows keen interest in Indian EVMs
New Delhi, May 3 (PTI) After Egypt, Indonesia has now
shown keen interest in the Indian Electronic Voting Machines
(EVMs).
A high-level Parliamentary delegation from the
Republic of Indonesia showed interest in this regard when it
met Indian Chief Election Commissioner S Y Quraishi and other
Election Commissioners V S Sampath and H S Brahma Tuesday.
"The delegation showed keen interest in the EVMs. A
presentation on the functioning of the EVMs was also made
before the delegation," the EC said in a press note.
Quraishi briefed the delegation on "managing world's
largest election".
It was decided that the mutual exchange of experiences
and best practices in the field of electoral management would
be given further momentum by the two sides for strengthening
democracy in the South-East Asian Region, the release said.
India would be sending some EVMs on a pilot basis to
Egypt which prepares for presidential and parliamentary
elections later this year.
