Turkish premier: a new period has begun in Libya's history

ISTANBUL (A.A) - 03.05.2011 - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that a new period had begun in Libya's history, and now Muammar Gaddafi, who was holding the rule in Tripoli, should quit.
A person on whom everybody will agree should come into rule in Libya in order to restore peace and stability in the country, added Erdogan who held a press conference in Istanbul on Tuesday.
Recalling that the UN Security Council had to adopt resolutions 1970 and 1973 as lives of civilian people were in danger in Libya, Erdogan said that NATO launched an operation on Libya within that scope to protect the civilians, adding that Turkey participated in the operation in the aspects of transfer of humanitarian aid as well as supervision of weapon embargo.
We have also announced a road map for Libya on April 7, said Erdogan, adding that international community supported that road map.
Erdogan said that Gaddafi should step down for settlement of territorial integrity and for the peace and future of Libya.
