RELIGIONS CAN HELP STUDENTS UNDERSTAND TRUE SCIENCE - TURKISH SCIENTIST
KOTA KINABALU (Malaysia), May 4 (Bernama) -- Religious knowledge should be
taught in schools according to the students' beliefs in order to help them
understand true science, said Turkish scientist Dr Ahmet Oktar Babuna Tuesday.
He noted that people should not be deceived by what he described as false
concepts, such as Darwinism, which promotes atheism and mocks the study of
nature and mankind.
"It is time for religions like Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, and
Hinduism to be taught in schools to provide students with a true knowledge of
God's creations.
"We must be united in the study of science with the belief that God is the
creator of all things so that we can contribute to humanity, instead of breaking
them apart," he said while speaking at the Signs of the Creator Programme at
University Malaysia Sabah in Kota Kinabalu.
According to Oktar Babuna, false theories such as Darwinism, a concept
associated with ideas from English naturalist Charles Darwin, led to the
development of ideologies that prohibit religions.
He said that the ideologies, which were popularly adopted by communist
leader Joseph Stalin in Russia and fascist dictator Adolf Hitler in Germany
during World War II, were "selfish acts that glorified terrorism and racism."
Oktar Babuna, a neurologist, said that Darwin's ideas ridiculed religious
teachings, saying that all beings on Earth evolved through the years from
certain animals. Babuna said that notion was wrong.
"Today, science has discovered more than 350 million fossils from millions
of years. What existed then still exists in the same form and shape today, if it
had not become extinct," he said.
He also said that the study of science is a path to get closer to God and
improve one's faith.
