Turkish minister says no international cooperation against terrorism

ANKARA (A.A) - 05.05.2011 - Turkey's State Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Cemil Cicek said on Thursday that there was no international cooperation against terrorism.
Cicek said not only security but also economic, social, political and cultural measures should be taken to counter terrorism.
"Unfortunately, there is no international cooperation, but there is a double standard," Cicek told AA correspondent.
Cicek said no country was showing the same cooperation or understanding it was showing to al-Qaida also to the terrorist organization PKK.
The minister said there were around 50 terrorist organizations in the world. "The way to eradicate them is international cooperation, but unfortunately there is not such cooperation," he said.
On a new constitution, Cicek said the Justice & Development (AK) Party would prepare a new constitution by establishing a good balance between security and freedoms.
Cicek said the AK Party would make a new constitution together with other political parties in the wake of June 12th general elections, and underlined importance of compromise when preparing a new constitution.
The minister also said a new constitution should give priority to individuals.
