GCC consultative summit on Tuesday -- chief

RIYADH, May 6 (KUNA) -- Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Zayani declared on Friday that the third 13th consultative meeting of the top leaders of the council states would be held in the Saudi capital on Tuesday.
Al-Zayani said in a statement that the regular holding of the GCC leaders' meeting at this level would bolster the communications among the leaders and affirm their keenness on pursuing "this good march" of the member states of the council.
He was alluding to various accomplishments made by the six member states since founding the bloc since the early 80s.
The upcoming meeting will be an opportunity for the top leaders to review the common march of the GCC countries from political, economic, security, military, social and cultural dimensions, as well as reviewing i nternational, regional and Arab events of common interest, he added.
The day-long meeting at the consultative level will be held without a previously-prepared agenda.
The GCC comprises Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar and the UAE. Various achievements have been made by these countries since the founding of the bloc -- such as unifying custom fees, regulating joint border precautions and facilitating cross-border movement of the citizens among the regional countries.
