Head-on bus collision kills four in Tien Giang

Tien Giang (VNA) - At least four people were killed and 11 injured when two passenger buses collided head-on on September 3 on Highway 1A in southern Tien Giang province.

A 25-seat passenger bus, driven by Phan Viet Hung, was heading for
Ho Chi Minh City from Dong Thap province when it collided with a 15-seat
van travelling at Cai Be district at 6 a.m.

The collision wrecked the 15 seat van, instantly killing four passengers
and injuring 11 others, including the drivers of the two vehicles.

Police and rescue force had to break open the crushed van to retrieve the
bodies of the four male victims. Three were identified as residents of Can
Tho, Soc Trang and Binh Dinh.

Hung told police that his bus was travelling toward HCM City when a
woman riding a motorbike in the same direction suddenly turned left in front
of his bus.

Hung said he was forced to make a quick turn to the left side of the road
to avoid an accident, but his bus hit the motorbike and another one before
colliding with the van.

The injured were rushed to Tien Giang Hospital and Cho Ray
Hospital in HCM City . Several were in a critical condition last
night, police said.-Enditem
