Information Min. underscores media role in turning Kuwait into financial hub

KUWAIT, May 9 (KUNA) --- Minister of Information Sami Abdullatif Al-Nesf underscored Monday the important role of media in turning Kuwait into a regional financial hub.
During his inauguration of 11th exhibition of media, public relations and communication technology, Al-Nesf, who doubles as Communications Minister, called for organizing more media events to attract investors and help promote Kuwait a financial hub.
The Minister hailed the exhibition, noting that it helps Kuwaiti media outlets keep abreast of the latest developments on the global media.
He also urged the private sector to support such kind of events and exhibitions to assets Kuwait's leading media and economic role in the region.
The two-day exhibition organizer, Al Jabriya Exhibition Group's Chairman Ahmad Ismail Behbehani said that the world interest in media has been developing in the recent years and taking new dimensions.
"Many of the successful institutions in the developed countries are depending on the public relations programs and activities to achieve their goals and rally support for their policies," Behbehani said.
He added that economic institutions also rely on media outlets to reach out to their dealers and customers.
Due to the significance of this exhibition, KUNA was keen on taking part in it.
The Kuwaiti News Agency pavilion features its books and media services, including SMS, media training and photos and news archive.
More than 44 institutions representing different government bodies, particularly newspapers, radio station, TV channels and press houses.
