MSE 2011 SEES M'SIANS NEGOTIATING FOR PROJECTS WORTH US$73.5 MLN IN MIDDLE EAST
KUALA LUMPUR, May 10 (Bernama) -- The fourth Malaysian Services Exhibition 2011 (MSE 2011), held from April 17-20 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), had created opportunities for Malaysian service providers to secure new projects in the Middle East valued at US$73.5 million.
The event, organised by Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), also saw a further US$1.76 billion in potential projects currently under negotiations.
"The Malaysian services sector has proven itself to be world-class providers in successfully executing numerous technical and engineering projects throughout the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region," said MATRADE's Chief Executive Officer, Noharuddin Nordin, in a statement issued here Tuesday.
He said the impressive outcomes at MSE was not only a recognition of Malaysian companies' strong reputation among project owners in the GCC, but further strengthened the brand image of Malaysia as a reliable service provider in the region.
The sector that registered the highest value of potential projects was the construction and related professional services sector valued at US$845.64 million.
This was followed by the energy, power generation and environment management services sector with potential projects valued at US$652.01 million and the specialised training, business and financial services sector with potential projects valued at US$56.01 million.
Meanwhile, a total of 42 individual business meetings were organised during the International Business Partner Meeting (IBPM) held in conjunction with MSE 2011 which resulted in potential projects worth US$35 million.
Among the foreign partners that participated in the session were
representatives from India, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar and United Kingdom.
