Supreme Court Bar Association, Pakistan Bar Council demand commission of inquiry

Lahore, May 10, 2011 (Pakistan Observer): Supreme Court Bar Association, Punjab Bar Council and Lahore Bar Association have demanded a high-powered Inquiry Commission to unearth truth about Abbottabad operation.
In a joint press briefing here on Monday, the representatives of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), Punjab Bar Council (PbBC) and Lahore Bar Association said that the proposed commission should fix responsibility of lapses in this operation.
They pointed out that bar associations would chalk out their future plan of action against Abbottabad operation.
SCBA President Asma Jahangir said that every verdict of Supreme Court was not historic. She said that lawyers just criticized the verdicts of Supreme Court but they also urged the government and institutions to act upon those verdicts. Punjab Bar Council Vice Chairman Latif Afridi said the United States has violated Pakistan sovereignty. He said now is time to take action against these responsible showing negligence in Abbottabad operation.
