MALAYSIAN ARMY CHIEF CALLS ON THAI DEFENCE MINISTER
BANGKOK, May 12 (Bernama) -– Malaysian Army Chief General Zulkifeli Mohd Zin Wednesday called on Thai Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwon at the Defence Ministry here.
Zulkifeli, who took up the Malaysian army top post on May 21, last year, called on Prawit to officially introduce himself and enhance cordial relations between the armies of both nations.
The visiting four-star general arrived at the ministry at 11am and spent about 30 minutes with the defence minister.
Also present was Defence advisor at the Malaysian Embassy in Thailand, Brigadier-General Azmy Yahya.
On Tuesday, Zulkifeli met his Thai counterpart, General Prayuth Chan-ocha, at the Royal Thai Army headquarters here.
Zulkifeli was also bestowed with the Distinguished Alumnus Award of the Royal Thai Army Command and General Staff College by Prayuth at the college here Tuesday.
The Malaysian general had enrolled at the college from Oct 1991 to Oct 1992 when he was a major.
During the ceremony, Zulkifeli received a certificate and a plaque, and his name was engraved at the college's Hall of Fame.
Zulkifeli is scheduled to depart Thailand Thursday.
