AUSTRALIA'S TROPFEST COMES TO MALAYSIA
KUALA LUMPUR, May 12 (Bernama) -- Tropfest, billed as the largest short film festival in the world, is coming to Malaysia for the very first time.
Founded by award-winning actor and director John Polson, Tropfest began as a short film festival for friends and family at the Tropicana Cafe in Sydney, Australia, in 1993.
Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia, Miles Kupa, said he was excited to see an iconic Australian cultural event coming to this Southeast Asian nation.
"Tropfest has inspired a generation of Australian independent film-makers. We hope that it will be a new source of inspiration for Malaysian film-makers too," he said in a statement from the mission Wednesday.
The public can come and see a collection of Australian short films at the Annexe Gallery located on the 2nd floor of the Central Market Annexe in Jalan Hang Kasturi, here, at 5.30pm and 8.30pm on May 21 and 22.
Entry is free.
