M'SIAN REITS COMPANIES SCORE BEST FOR CORPORATE GOVERNANCE INDEX

KUALA LUMPUR, May 12 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Real Estate Investment Trusts (M-Reits) companies, namely Quill Capita Trust, Amanahraya Real Estate Investment Trust and Axis Real Estate Investment Trust have scored "best" for corporate governance index.

The development of a corporate governance index for Reits in Malaysia has been widely supported by the industry as it will encourage M-Reits to adopt the generally accepted principle of corporate governance as defined by relevant industry organisations.

The index is based on a score card of quantitative and qualitative measures, said the Asia-Pacific Real Estate Association (Aprea) in a statement Thursday.

"The marks on these criteria are based on publicly available information such as annual reports to avoid any subjectivity involved in the index calculations," it said.

The M-Reit index is part of an ongoing Aprea project on corporate governance of listed Asian real estate vehicles.
