MALAYSIANS MUST CONTINUE HIGH QUALITY TEACHING CULTURE



SHAH ALAM (Selangor, Malaysia), May 12 (Bernama) -- Malaysian King Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin has reminded all lecturers in the country to continue the high quality teaching culture in helping the country to become among the group of 10 top countries in the world in terms of innovation and creativity.

His Majesty said that at the same time all lecturers must develop the culture of innovativeness and creativity in their respective universities in order to achieve this aspiration.

"I call upon all lecturers particularly at the UiTM (Universiti Teknologi Mara) to continue this teaching culture especially in the fields of innovations and creativity. With this achievement, our universities and country will be looked upon with dignity and respect," he said at the first session of the 74th Convocation of UiTM, here Thursday.

In his capacity as the Chancellor of UiTM, the King also declared open the Dewan Agong Tuanku Canselor, here which was being used for the convocation for the first time, involving 15,701 graduands.

The Malaysian King also presented the instruments of appointment to
two newly appointed UiTM Pro-Chancellors, Dr Salehuddin Mohamed and Nuraizah Abdul Hamid.

In his speech, the King expressed his happiness at the setting up of the Arshad Ayub Graduate Business School (AAGBS) which placed UiTM on the world map through the offer of the best masters programme internationally.

"As a start the AAGBS will collaborate with two famous institutions in the world, namely the Insead Business School and Kets de Vries Institute in France to set up the Leadership Centre which will train industry leaders in the country using teaching manpower from all over the world," he said.

For the convocation this time around, there will be 21 sessions involving the campuses in Shah Alam, statef of Perak, Terengganu, Sarawak and Perlis.
