MALAYSIAN ARMED FORCES CHIEF AWARDED HIGHEST MILITARY MEDAL FROM INDONESIA
KUALA LUMPUR, May 14 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Armed Forces chief, General Azizan Ariffin, has been conferred Indonesia's highest military award.
Azizan received the Bintang Yudha Dharma Utama Indonesia from Defence Minister Dr Purnomo Yusdiantoro Thursday during his two-day visit to the country.
A Defence Ministry statement said Friday that the medal was in recognition of Azizan's role in strengthening the strategic relationship between Indonesia and Malaysia as well as his contribution to the geo-strategic stability in the region.
Also present at the ceremony were Indonesian Armed Forces Chief Admiral Agus Suhartono S.E and other top military personnel and officials from the Malaysian Defence Ministry.
