Iran Welcomes Iraq's Effective Role in Regional Developments

TEHRAN (FNA)- Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili in a meeting with Head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq Ammar al-Hakim underlined Tehran's eagerness to witness Iraq as an effective actor in the regional developments.
The Iranian politician welcomed the regional role of Iraq in the course of the ongoing developments, welcoming the expansion of bilateral relations.

Referring to the influence of Islamic awareness over the ongoing regional developments, he said that the growing trend of campaign against oppression and dictatorship is both very promising and very jubilating for the Islamic Ummah (nation).

Ammar Hakim for his part, said, "A very promising process has been clicked in the Islamic world thanks to the strong will of the Islamic nations."

He criticized the indifference of the international organizations towards the catastrophes and sad developments in Bahrain, asking for support for the legitimate demands of the Bahraini nation.

In recent months, a wave of revolutions and anti-government uprisings has been sweeping the Arab world.

In January, a revolution in Tunisia ended the 23-year ruling of former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

In February, another Arab revolution led to the ouster of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak after three decades of his authoritarian rule.

Other revolutions are erupting in Libya, Yemen and Bahrain, while other anti-government unrests have swept Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Oman, Kuwait and Algeria.
