Salehi Hopeful about Expansion of Iran-Indonesia Cooperation

TEHRAN,May 18 (FNA)- Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi voiced optimism about the prospects of mutual cooperation between Tehran and Jakarta, and said the two sides enjoy ample potential for expanding their relations.
According to a statement released by the Foreign Ministry's Information and Press Bureau, Salehi made the remarks in a meeting here in Tehran on Tuesday with Indonesia's visiting Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Fadel Muhammad.
At the meeting, the two ministers explored avenues for the further development of relations between Iran and Indonesia in various fields.
Salehi noted the two countries' capabilities, and expressed the hope that Tehran and Jakarta would exhaust all capacities to promote their mutual cooperation.
He further described regional and international groupings, including the Group of 8 Developing Muslim Countries (D-8), as proper scenes for bolstering Iran-Indonesia cooperation specially in the implementation of giant oil, gas and petrochemical projects.
He hoped that possible grounds would further increase for enhanced cooperation among the regional and Islamic states.
The Indonesian minister, for his part, welcomed Salehi's remarks on expanded cooperation between the two sides, and noted his country's emphasis on the necessity of enhanced coordination among the regional countries.
He hoped that Tehran and Jakarta would provide for each other's needs by using their capacities and potentials.
