Iran Urges UN to Show Strong Reaction to Israeli Crimes against Regional People

TEHRAN,May 18 (FNA)- Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Mohammad Khazayee called on the United Nations to show firm and serious reaction to the crimes committed by the Zionist regime against the regional people.
"The international community should show firm reaction to the Zionist regime's crimes in its recent massacre of the people of the regional countries," Khazayee said in separate letters to Secretary-General of the UN Ban Ki-Moon, the UN Security Council chief and the head of the UN General Assembly.
He blasted Israel for massacring people in the Golan Heights, Lebanese borders, Ramallah and Gaza during the Nakba Day demonstrations.
"Serious and decisive actions should be taken against the crimes of the Quds occupying regime," Khazayee reiterated.
On Sunday, demonstrators gathered in cities across the Middle East to remember the May 15, 1948 occupation of Palestine, known as Nakba Day, which means Day of the Catastrophe in Arabic.
Israeli soldiers opened fire on civilian protestors across the border in Lebanon and killed four on Sunday.
According to Lebanese security officials, protesters were approaching the border with Israel, but did not mean to cross the border.
The security officials said there were injuries as well.
In the Gaza Strip, the Israeli military killed two protesters, including a Palestinian teenager, and injured at least 65 others.
A journalist suffered a critical injury from Israeli fire in the northern city of Beit Hanoun.
One person was killed and at least 150 hurt in the village of Qalandiya near the city of Ramallah in the central West Bank.
Two other Palestinians were killed and scores were injured by Israeli troops in other parts of the West Bank.
Since the 1948 occupation, millions of the Palestinians have been massacred and displaced.
The Israeli soldiers wiped nearly 500 Palestinian villages and towns off the map during the 1948 offensive, leaving the Palestinian refugees dreaming of an eventual return to their homeland more than six decades later.
